Daniel S. Dunn is a husband, father, teacher, writer, artist, musician, and designer.
Dunn grew up in rural Ohio with his parents and three brothers. He received his high-school education at home (naturally graduating at the top of his class) while having the good fortune to captain his basketball team in a local league and participate in a church band, both of which he enjoyed immensely.
After a successful freshman year at Kent State, Dunn transferred and graduated magna cum laude from Judson University in Elgin, Illinois with a B.A. in Architectural Studies. There he was privileged to pursue his love for design in light of his love for Christ. He was honored to be inducted into the Tau Sigma Delta (ΤΣΔ) Honor Society in Architecture and Allied Arts in recognition of his intellectual achievement, effort and initiative as well as leadership and character during his tenure there.
Excited about the good that the built environment can encourage in the world, Daniel believes that stewarding humanity’s physical and cultural resources, fostering relationships, delighting the senses, and serving the needy and vulnerable are among its most important qualities. He respects it as a powerful tool that embodies the values of those who craft it – designers and those for whom it is designed – that can, in turn, help inform the values of generations to come.
As a building designer since 2015, Daniel has had the privilege of working on a wide array of residential and commercial projects, from interior renovations and additions to new construction. He relishes any opportunity to creatively solve a design problem; collaborate with the design team; manage the construction administration process (especially if it allows for getting out into the field and getting his boots dirty); and learn something new.
Daniel has nearly completed the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) in his path to licensure and is preparing to sit for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). He also is a member of his community’s planning and zoning commission and a co-director of the music ministry at his church.
Daniel resides in Ohio with his lovely wife Abbie and their seven rambunctious children. As a family they enjoy storytelling, gardening, music, a sappy movie, but most of all good food!
